Statistics is one subject I have always tried to stay away from. After reviewing many websites from my course Kin 710 online. I have learned that statics is very beneficial to everything we do, and research. I wish I had these websites sooner, but better late than never.
The following information I will be sharing with you is from my course Kin 710: By Professor Sailor at Fresno Pacific University: Resources for Teaching and Learning about Probability and Statistics. ERIC Digest. (http://www.ericdigests.org/2000-2/resources.htm) As increased use of technology and the empirical sciences spreads throughout the global community, the use of data and graphs to communicate information is ever increasing. Daily decision making and discussions of social issues are increasingly influenced by statistics and projected outcomes based on estimated probabilities. Unfortunately, most high school graduates have little or no background in the mathematics associated with calculating probabilities and interpreting statistics. Therefore, in order for our students to be adequately prepared to make informed decisions, schools need to provide greater attention to probability and statistics in mathematics and other courses. Numerous educators (NCTM, 1989; NRC, 1989; Shaughnessy, 1992) have recommend the introduction of concepts related to probability and statistics throughout the school years for all students, not just those students bound for college. Statistics in Sports (http://www.amstat.org/sections/sis/) I provide this link. I thought many of you would find this interesting. Who knows, you might be able to use some of the data. Statistics and Statistical Graphics Resources (http://www.math.yorku.ca/SCS/StatResource.html) This is a list of hundreds of useful links compiled by a professor at York University. I would take a look at it. You should probably also bookmark it so you can find it later if you need some clarification regarding a particular statistical method or a tutorial on how to operate various statistical packages. Free Statistical Analysis Software by David Lane (http://davidmlane.com/hyperstat/Statistical_analyses.html) - links to many tools on the internet. StatPages.net - Free Statistical Software (http://statpages.org/javasta2.html) - Good table listing lots of tools and which are free vs. semi-free. Professional portfolio is my weebly, and it is a webpage. I am able to blog, share my professional resume, philosophy, and links to my personal web site For my professional use I use Linkedin, or Tweeter for my professional websites. I am able to follow other professionals, and organization to stay updated in my field. They are both great professional promoters for one’s career of choice. If I had to choose which one I would use all the time. It would be my personal web sites on LinkedIn and Facebook. I am able still able to show case my past experiences, and skills. I am also able to interact with other professional, and share ideas through the website. Professional Networking Strategies.
Professional Networking is a must when it comes to your career. Most jobs come from “who ya know, not what ya know” not always the case, but in most instances it is. So it is important to make professional connection everywhere you go, and remember people are always watching you. Especially if you are new to the area, or job.
Last but not least! Stay positive when it becomes hard, remember what it took to stand where you are now. Technology tends to make my head spin with all the new advances. Technology can be very overwhelming at times, and confusing. BUT has Technology ENHANACED? There are a few ways to look at it question. Of course technology has grown, and improved. Every day there seems to be something new advanced trending. Cell Phones now days can do just about anything, but be invincible (I go through phone like crazy). Computers can turn into tabs, and they are touch screen. Even have glasses that stream with the internet. BUT, has technology enhanced? Technology seems only work when it wants to. There is no such thing as privacy anymore. If you post it, tweet it, tag it, save it, ICloud, Instagram your information, it no longer belongs to you. Anyone can hack you that knows what they are doing, and take all your personal information. If you are talking to someone on the web, most chances it is not the real person you think you are talking to. So, Reealllyy has technology enhanced?! The world can be a scary place at times, but you can make it what you want by your decisions. When using the internet use it with caution, and be smart about what you are posting/sharing. Wearable technology defiantly has its advantages, and disadvantages. I chose the Smart Watches to blog about because I have always wanted one. The pros of using the smart watch in my field of coaching would help me keep track of my phone without having to have it on me personally. I am always getting emails, text messages, and calls throughout the day. With my watch I can see who it is very quickly to see if it is important of not to stop what I am doing to take care of the text, email or call. The cons to it would be getting damaged my coaching. Not knowing how to properly use the watch would take more time than just going, and checking my phone.
The App is called Teacher’s Assistant Pro
This app lets you keep track of each student: Details: Organization is key in the classroom, but it’s not always easy. Teacher’s Assistant Pro allows you to keep a set of behavior records for each student in your care, offering a quick method for looking up and noting bad behavior, and letting you email specific incidents from directly within the app’s main interface. Read more: http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/best-apps-for-teachers-education/#ixzz3c1g0TONK From my experience in the classroom things can get a little crazy sometimes, and keeping track of student’s behavior can be difficult. As a teacher I try never to let a student's behavior disrupt the class, but there are times where it just happens. With this app I can easily send the students behavior slips to the Dean without using pen/paper, and wasting more class time. My phone is on me most of the times, or close by for quick access to login in the students information. I could defiantly see myself using this App in the future for class management. The Ultimate App for me would be a profile for the athletes I train every day. The app would have to be able to hold a lot of information, and run off of no Internet access only when approved with an access code.
